JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the daily activities of the children in the Intermountain Healthcare Child Care Centers. Interacts with children using approved early childhood education standards, develops and prepares lesson plans appropriate to age levels, participates in parent / teacher conferences, maintains observation notes on child's developments and attends to the physical and emotional needs of the children.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required one year childcare experience. CPR and Food Handler's permit must be obtained after start date. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development preferred or Child Development Associate credential preferred. Must be flexible to work variable schedules and shifts. The Child Development Center is open Monday thru Friday 5:30am-8pm. Must be able to lift 20lbs.

COMMITMENT: Monday – Friday – 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m Will also be required to meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month for a staff meeting/planning time

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for/assistance of lesson planning and classroom facilitation which includes classroom prep and cleaning, introducing monthly concepts/themes, fostering positive social development, instilling a love for nature and the arts, facilitating music and movement activities, aiding in the children’s language development and challenging children’s cognitive skills with planned activities as well as spontaneous play. Responsibilities also include the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with families, verbally and in writing.

REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED: HS Diploma. Previous experience working with children. Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude are also a must.

PREFERRED: CDA, Associates or Bachelors Degree in ECE or related field.

Responsibilities
The Director has overall responsibility for operation of the child care center and ensures the center is operating in accordance with all state/local regulation, center policies and procedures, and federal food program regulations. Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises 20 staff members; maintains administrative records for the center; maintains compliance with the federal food program; communicates with parents about child progress, center activities, and addresses parent concerns; maintains an accurate financial accounting of the center budget and makes purchases necessary to operations; listens to and responds to needs and concerns of parents, staff, and administration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development, Early Childhood Development or equivalency plus one year related experience teaching, planning and directing a children's education service or equivalency.
Preferences
Knowledge of early childhood development and appropriate practices for young children; nurturing, care giving and education of young children; Utah State Child Care Licensing Rules: NAEYC Accreditation Standards; Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements. Demonstrated supervisory, human relations and effective communication skills, and a commitment to provide excellent customer service.
