The Fingerpainting Challenge

The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) April 12th -18th .  Click Here to visit their website. This year Utah’s highereducation institutions are joining with community early childhood organizations throughout the state to “Celebrate Our Youngest Learners” by issuing a “Fingerpaint with a Child” challenge. We challenge you to celebrate our youngest learners by engaging with them in playful and creative fingerpainting activities and recommit to ensuring that every child in Utah experiences the type of early environment—at home, at child care, at school, and in the community—that will promote their early learning. We kicked off this event on March 28th at the 40th Utah Early Childhood Conference held at Weber State University. The keynote speaker Richard Paul Evans challenged Utah’s higher education presidents and state leaders to “Fingerpaint with a Child” before April 19th. Our goal is to have over 25,000 leaders and citizens participate. Please pass the challenge along and share your fingerpainting pictures and videos with us at and on twitter @uaeyc with #WOYCUTAH or #fingerpaintUT.
